By Mark Litchfield
Disclaimer: I didn't purchase this webcam, it was a gift for my sister-in-law's mother that I setup for them.
The good: Easily recognized in Skype, video quality was clear and sound quality was excellent.
The bad: Setup was a pain. It was so bad that I got a call to come troubleshoot this for them. I like to think that I know what I'm doing around computers (build my own, etc.) but this webcam gave me fits for an hour before I finally got it working by dumb luck. Don't bother with the included CD, instead plug it in and let Windows detect the device. Once Windows goes through the installation, open your Control Panel, go to the Device Manager, select the Webcam and go to the Drivers and manually Update the driver. This was all I needed to do to get it working perfectly in Skype.
I hope this review helps someone out there. Overall, it's still a great webcam, once you get past the setup issues.

By J. Feltes
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R6T0OMH8AKGCF I've had nothing but good experiences with this webcam. I was a little worried that the installation would go haywire (I heard stories about driver issues) but Windows 7 (x64) automatically installed the drivers. I am assuming they have solved the issues, atleast for 64-bit Win 7 machines. At any rate, this is a 720p webcam at a bargain bin price.
I plan to use it as a surveillance camera so it will get a good work out - pending updates.

I recently purchased the Rocketfish RF-HDWEB to replace a "Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac" that has been giving me problems (sometimes when iChat starts, the camera won't start because it is "in use by another application", even though it isn't in use at all. Anyway, I wanted a camera with similar qualities to the QuickCam, and the Rocketfish delivers. I am using this on a Mac Mini on Mac OS X 10.6.8, and all that I had to do was plug it in and it was working immediately. I never use it in complete low light, but in moderate light and even when the Sun was just over my shoulder, it worked great! The Rocketfish looks fantastic on iChat and Facetime, but was squished a bit on PhotoBooth. That is the reason why I gave it only 4 stars on Mac compatibility. I looked at the enclosed CD, but there is just Windows software and drivers - no Mac OS X stuff at all, but that's okay since it "just works".
In the online product photos, the webcam looks huge - something from the 1950s or something. It turns out that from the bottom of the mic to the top of the webcam it is only 3.1cm (1 1/4 inches) tall. This is great, since it doesn't have to look foreboding on the top of the monitor if it does its job. The stand is solid but is really only useful on a monitor/laptop. I tried it on my desk, but couldn't point the webcam high enough, so I only got my chest and part of my neck (I'm 6' tall). There is a button on the top of the webcam that doesn't seem to do anything on a Mac. Maybe if you have to still run Windows you could use the button.
Overall, I would recommend this to Mac users who want an inexpensive alternative to the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac or who wants a second webcam than their built-in Macbook/iMac webcam.
