I received my telyHD one day before promised -- in three days with regular shipping. The device comes in attractive packagng with really nice, easy to follow directions that I did not even need my reading glasses for. It took me less than twenty minutes to set the device up with my house Wi-Fi system. It took me about another ten minutes to log in my old Skype information. The telyHD uploaded all my contacts from Skype in a nice easy to use address book. The picture quality from my laptop to the Tely HD is excellant and the sound quality is out of this world for a speaker phone type device. When I call home from my laptop to the telyHD, despite my children moving all over the room, I can hear and see them during out conversation. Great camera and remarkable micro-phones.
I travel a lot with work. My children love to receive calls from me when I am on the road, and that makes me feel good. We had Skype before, but we always had to cordinate calls to ensure out computer at home was "ready" for a Skype call, and somebody was there to receive it. Can get expensive when your overseas. With the telyHD, the unit is mounted (great mount system)on the TV in our family room. It is always "On" waiting to accept a call. It has its own ringer to let you know a call is coming in, so it is not dependant on any other device (computer or TV)to be "On" and ready. When my six year-old hears the ringer, he knows to turn the TV on, see who is calling, and accept the call using the telyHD remote control. If nobody is there to receive the call, you can leave a video message. The device also has a secuirty cover for the lense if you are concerned about security.
TelyHD increases the Skype experience by not only increasing the audio/visual quality, but more importantly to me, by making it more conveniant to use. Later, I cabled the device up directly to my router and found call quality to be even better. I used the picture sharing function using the SD card reader with the one other friend I know who has a TelyHD. The phontos came accross flawlessly in HD qualtiy. I am waiting for a few more of my friends and family to get the device so that we could enjoy the full potential of telyHD.

I bought this camera because my wife often has Skype calls with her family, who reside in Europe. As everyone knows, when you do a Skype call with another party, you both have to have your computers on at the same time, which has to be arranged ahead of time unless you both happen to have your computers on and logged into Skype coincidentally. My wife or her mother will normally either do a quick telephone call or send a text to arrange a call. I was hoping this device might serve to help streamline that process.
Here are a few things about this device I was not fully aware of that might help you make your purchasing decision:
1. The item seems to be well made, and it comes very well packaged. Instructions are sparse, though, and even online information to get more detail takes some digging. The company does have online support, though, and is quick to answer questions.
2. The interface looks almost exactly like Skype on a PC. You can set it to "away," "do not disturb," "online," etc. while you are logged on so the person calling you can see your status. Note that you have to remember to update this, so if you are home and available to take a call, and then decide to go outside or run to the store, unless you turn on your television, switch over to that HDMI input, and change your status, the caller will think you're sitting there online ready to connect. I found this it be a bit of a pain sometimes...just switching off my PC and ending Skype is (as you would guess) much easier by comparison.
3. The device is ALWAYS on unless you unplug it. It has no power switch. It does have a little cover you can put over the lens in case you are paranoid about being watched somehow without knowing it.
4. It is really designed to be in fairly close proximity to the user. I have a very large room with a 67" HD television, and the sofa is about 14 feet away. So, when you conduct a video call, the camera has a full view of the room and the other party can't really see you very well unless you zoom in. However, from my experience, when the camera was zoomed in to get a closer shot the video became excessively grainy.
5. Even at a far distance, the microphone worked remarkably well.
6. The camera requires its own HDMI port on your TV.
7. The camera has two speakers on each end, and when a caller calls it makes a sound on its own, which sounds just like the tone an incoming Skype call makes on a PC. Your television does not need to be on or set to that HDMI input (you can be watching something else) for the incoming call to sound. However, on mine, the sound volume was low and I could not get it high enough to get my attention. If, for example, you are vacuuming, or in the next room, or even if you are watching another program with the sound up, you'll most likely miss the call.
8. If a call comes in and the television is off, the caller has to wait for you to switch on the set and access the proper HDMI port to answer them. However, you can push the button on the remote and answer right away, saying something like "I am here and I am taking your call....please give me a minute to turn on my television...right now I cannot hear you or see you..."...you get the idea. Until your set is on, by the way, you'll have no idea who it is you're talking to.
After all was said and done, we decided this device was just not for us. If it was priced somewhere around the $50 range, well....maybe. However, because of the low volume when a call comes in, the incompatibility with a large-size room, the need to keep it updated 24/7 regarding your online status (or sign out completely, which is another option), we just decided to stick with our PC interface and plan our Skype rendezvous ahead of time.
I can see its value if someone does not have PC access, but even at that I would think twice with it sitting around the $200 price range (as of this writing). I realize that quite a few people have written raving reviews and I think it's great that it has worked well for them, but it's certainly not for everyone.

I purchased two of the TelyHD units a week ago. The original goal was to setup this for my mother so she could easily see her Grand-Kids while out of state for the winter. That goal was accomplished and much much more.
To test the product, I setup one unit at my office in the conference room. I figured it would take about half hour to an hour to setup. I was pleasantly surprised when I had the TelyHD installed and running in 10 minutes (that was from unpackaging the product to being online video-conferencing). I have limited bandwidth at my Rural office (3mbps download/768kbps upload) but that did not reduce the quality of the audio and video. The Video was crystal clear on both ends and the audio came across as clear as a standard phone. I have since ordered two more of these for other locations. I have been looking for a cost effective video conferencing solution for three years with no avail. This makes Video-Conferencing a cost-effective reality. (My mother likes it as well so she can see her Grand-Kids.)
Excellent quality and very easy to use and setup!
THANK YOU
I highly recommend this product.
